DHF Guild Officer (BOB/OOCGO) Posts: 7455 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Torrance, CA | Okay, this is NO JOKE! I'm not getting paid for this and I'm not getting any kickbacks of any kind for this glowing review of what as to be my new favorite store. The store is called Adventure 16 and they tout themselves as "Southern California's Outdoor Experts". I've been to R.E.I., Sports Chalet and just about every other type of professed outdoors store that I can think of. I could go into the wonderful staff that I found in the Torrance location (Svetlana) was truly amazing to both Janet and myself going well above and beyond in the "customer satisfaction" department truly only trying to help us rather than any sort of high-pressure salesmanship and let me just add that I *LOATHE* sales people. This place is low to zero-pressure sales and highly knowledgeable about comfort, health, natural materials and very decently priced for very fine quality equipment! But, enough of that... I had to share with you all a couple things. 1) Insoles for your shoes. (Men and Women) Many of us use them and I actually experience a lot of pain when I walk so I need the best I can find and afford. I've tried all the decently priced insoles on the market and after today, I'm never looking back at Dr. Sholes ever again. The ones that Svetlana took the time to sit and talk with us about (after we were done and on our way out of the store mind you and I am so glad we took the extra time to talk with her) are called Superfeet ( www.superfeet.com ) and the are a premium insole that I can't say enough about. There are differant styles to suit individual tastes and needs. I picked up the Orange which has an advanced rearfoot control with forefoot shock pad. I dare any of you to try these out and not be amazed! They aren't soft gels. They aren't cushy. They are difficult to describe online and as I said, if you'll just try them out for yourself, you will be amazed! In conjuction with some new wool socks "Smartwool Seriously comfortable trekking socks" that I picked up, I couldn't be happier and that is why I am posting this to share the knowledge. Becky has been clamoring about how nice actual wool socks are and now I believe her completely and wish I would have listened sooner! Lastly is a clothing line which Svetlana showed us and will have to wait on in order to purchase, but she did give us a nice brochure to look into and research for ourselves in the meantime. The items are made by "Icebreaker" which puts out a line of clothing that is 100% pure New Zealand Merino wool. ( www.icebreaker.com ) Primarily. we are looking into the leggings (tights) as active base layers and in short, this stuff appears to be amazing! So, for those interested, check out the links to either site, or go to the actual store ( Adventure 16 ) website of http://adventure16.com/ Edited by Stewart Sanborn 12/21/2008 7:06 PM | ||
